1. Send the Image
A phone photo is usually enough. Portraits, pets, crests, signatures, handwriting, logos — if you can see it, it can generally be engraved. We will tell you honestly if an image is too soft to hold detail before you spend anything.
2. Proof Before Burning
Every image is redrawn and tuned by hand for the species it is going into — walnut takes contrast differently than maple. You approve a proof first. Nothing is engraved off an unapproved file, because engraving cannot be undone.
3. Engrave & Finish
Cut on the laser, then hand-finished so the burn is sealed and the grain still reads as wood. Most engraving work turns around in one to two weeks. Small pieces ship nationwide; local pickup is available in metro Detroit.
What Engraving Costs — The Straight Answer
Engraving is quoted per job, not off a price list, because the work is in the art rather than the burn. A name or a set of dates is a few minutes of laser time. A photo-realistic portrait is hours of redrawing before the machine is switched on — adjusting contrast curves so a face still reads as a face once it is soot on hardwood. Send the image and the item you want it on, and you will get a real number back, with no obligation. If you are buying an urn from Laser Engraved Urns, the engraving is already included in the price of the urn.

A photo-realistic portrait engraved into a maple urn lid. Maple's pale, even grain is what lets a face keep its tonal range.

Hand-drawn artwork engraved to order. Supply a sketch, a logo or a piece of handwriting and it can be carried into hardwood.
What Can Be Engraved
Cremation urns and keepsake boxes, end-grain cutting and charcuterie boards, knives and steel tools, plaques and memorial pieces, signs, coasters, and gifts you supply yourself. If you already own the item and simply want it engraved, that is welcome — bring it in or ship it, and it goes on the bench alongside everything else.
