How It Works: The 3-Step Process
1. Consultation & Estimate
Share your space, dimensions, and vision. You will receive a clear, written estimate based strictly on shop time and materials—no markups, no padding.
2. Materials & Deposit
We select the perfect Michigan hardwood together, whether your piece calls for walnut, cherry, or white oak. A materials deposit secures your spot on the bench, and you approve the exact slabs before the first cut is made.
3. Build & Delivery
Backed by over 20 years of experience, every detail is handcrafted from the first cut to the final finish. We offer direct delivery across metro Detroit and nationwide shipping for smaller pieces.
What Custom Work Costs — The Straight Answer
You will receive a written estimate before any work begins. The pricing structure is simple and completely transparent: $85 per hour of shop time, plus materials exactly at cost.

A commission starts with a drawing or a photograph and a conversation about the room it has to live in. These are pieces already built and delivered.

Fireplace Mantle and Molding for a New Home
My wife and I recently bought a house and commissioned Dan to make us a fireplace mantle and molding.
