Flint’s Woodshop is a Michigan based company solely owned and operated by Daniel Flint. For over twenty years, Daniel has been turning Michigan timber into beautiful hand-crafted woodworking artistry. Flint’s Woodshop specializes in making custom laser-engraved, hand-crafted hardwood urns / keepsake boxes.
The origins of Daniel’s passion for woodworking are founded upon his deep-rooted love and appreciation for the great outdoors. Since childhood, Daniel’s free time has been spent enjoying the natural beauty of Michigan’s great lakes and wild forests.
This admiration for the natural world is what compels Daniel to unveil nature’s beauty in all his woodworking endeavors - such as the cherry urn pictured below. It is also the reason Flint’s Woodshop makes every attempt to use only locally sourced timber, responsibly harvested from Michigan forests.
Daniel graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor of Science in 2005. It was during his time at WMU that Daniel first discovered his passion for woodworking.
During his time at WMU, and after converting his kitchen table into a router table, Daniel completed his first project - a corner cabinet - built entirely in his one-bedroom college apartment. From this point forward, he was hooked. Woodworking would always be a part of Daniel’s life.
Many years and many projects later, Daniel continues producing woodworking artistry of the highest caliber. The images below are only a small sample of the many projects Daniel has completed over the years.
In the early years of Daniel’s woodworking career, most of his projects were given away as gifts to friends and family. That changed when Daniel learned that the death-care industry was in need of high-quality wooden urns.
To date, when a loved-one is cremated, industry standard is to return the remains in an impersonal, generic, black plastic box. It was clear to Daniel that both the deceased and family deserved something more respectful than a simple generic box.
Thus, Flint’s Woodshop opened for business with one mission in mind: To produce museum quality wooden urns and keepsake boxes – each with its own character and individual beauty – so that grieving individuals may find a small piece of harmony during an otherwise difficult time.
